Wolters Kluwer needed to make their IT/Software development teams more efficient and responsive to business needs.
As the agile specialist on a team of five experts I assessed Wolters’ agile practices and made recommendations on improvements to development practices, tools and team organization.
- I interviewed team members and built a model of WK’s development pipeline.
- Collaborating with other members of EPAM’s investigative team we identified improvement areas to WK’s development activities.
Specifically, I made recommendations on:
- Reducing follow-the-sun development and using cross functional teams
- Use of a single backlog
- Use of collaborative tools like Eclipse Che
- Impediment identification and removal
- Including DevOps staff as regular team members
- Backlog item creation and prioritization
- User stories
- Acceptance criteria
- Test Driven Design (TDD)
