Client: Wolters Kluwer, USA/ EPAM

Role: Agile Coach

Nov 2015 – Dec 2015

Ohio, USA

Wolters Kluwer needed to make their IT/Software development teams more efficient and responsive to business needs.

As the agile specialist on a team of five experts I assessed Wolters’ agile practices and made recommendations on improvements to development practices, tools and team organization.

  • I interviewed team members and built a model of WK’s development pipeline.
  • Collaborating with other members of EPAM’s investigative team we identified improvement areas to WK’s development activities.

Specifically, I made recommendations on:

  • Reducing follow-the-sun development and using cross functional teams
  • Use of a single backlog
  • Use of collaborative tools like Eclipse Che
  • Impediment identification and removal
  • Including DevOps staff as regular team members
  • Backlog item creation and prioritization
  • User stories
  • Acceptance criteria
  • Test Driven Design (TDD)
